Portrait of Captain Alexander Peter Imlay, DSO and Bar, of Prospect, South Australia, wearing the Gordon Highlanders, British Army, uniform. He enlisted in the AIF on 23 September 1914, as a second lieutenant with the 16th Battalion, and embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Ceramic on 22 December 1914. He served with the 47th Battalion at Gallipoli and the Western Front and was wounded twice. He was mentioned in despatches twice and awarded the Legion of Honour on 26 April 1917, and the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) on 5 March 1917 and a bar to the DSO on 7 December 1917. He returned to Australia on 21 March 1919 aboard HMAT Dongala. He was promoted to Major in 1920 and transferred to the reserve list as a lieutenant colonel in October 1920. In 1921 he joined the Gordon Highlanders, British Army, as a captain, and in 1930 transferred to the Royal Indian Army Service Corps. He retired in 1937, but was reappointed in 1940 for service during the Second World War. 
He died in 1959 in Scotland.

LANCE-CORPORAL IND            
Mrs. H.H. Ind, of Beulah road, Norwood, has received a cable message stating that her son, Lance-Corporal , Milton H. Ind was ill and admitted into the 2nd Australian General Hospital, Ghezires, on January 28.   His father Sergeant Howard H. Ind, met him on January 1 on the arrival of the troops from Gallipoli, at  which time they were both well.

Of Thompson Rroad, North Fremantle, WA.
Occupation prior to enlistment Blacksmith Striker.
He enlisted at Perth in 1915 and after training at. Blackboy Hill, went to Egypt. He then crossed to France and was wounded at Delville Wood in December, 1916. He was sent to Victoria Hospital Netley, England suffering shell shock and paralysis after a gunshot wound to the ankle and head and was listed as dangerously ill.
Returned to Australia 18th August 1917 "Karoola"
Discharged 18th February 1918
Died 29th June, 1951
