The photograph was originally captioned 'clean up tasks on Saturday afternoon in the Broadmeadows Camp'. Pte Wait, A Squadron, of Clarendon, SA, aged 21 years, enlisted on 10 September 1914. He returned to Australia on 10 July 1919. Pte Foy, A Squadron, of Glenelg, SA, aged 24 years, enlisted on 10 September 1914. He was discharged on 24 January 1918 whilst serving with the 24th Machine Gun Company. Pte King, A Squadron, of Woodside, SA, aged 41 years, enlisted on 17 September 1914. He was killed in action on 6 August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. Pte Daultrey, A Squadron, of Adelaide, SA, aged 38 years, enlisted on 11 September 1914. He returned to Australia on 15 August 1915. Pte Weathers, A Squadron, of Burranga Cap, aged 29 years, enlisted on 11 September 1914. He died of wounds on 15 June 1915 at Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. Pte Yeates, B Squadron, of Jamestown, SA, aged 44 years, enlisted on 11 September 1914. He was wounded at Lone Pine on 27 August 1915. Pte Yeates died on 30 August 1915 and was buried at sea. His only son, James, also served at Gallipoli and later in France. Pte Morrissey, A Squadron, of Adelaide, SA (originally of Dinigarvan, Ireland), enlisted on 14 September 1914. He returned to Australia on 9 July 1919 as a member of the 14th Australian General Hospital. We are unable to identify Pte Gil Morrissey from the First World War Nominal Roll. All members of A Squadron embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Armadale on 12 February 1915 and the members of B Squadron embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Karroo on 11 February 1915.

Pte Henstridge was killed in action at Glencourse Wood, Belgium, on 20 September 1917, Pte Hutchinson was later awarded the Military Medal (MM) for actions as a company runner at Glencourse Wood on the night of 23/24 September 1917, and Pte Todd was later awarded the MM for actions as a company runner at Le Barque between 25-27 February 1917.
